With Balkan Ghosts behind us, we’re happy to announce the second chapter of Seasonal Shorts, a series of short thematic essays (1000-1500 words). Anticipated for Spring 2025, this season's theme is Balkan Blooms, an exploration of the region’s past and present inspired by seasonal rhythms of planting and germinating, abundance and bearing fruit.

While the natural cycle serves as a guiding thread, we invite the authors to approach blooming, growth, and fertility as multidimensional concepts with a potential for different exploratory avenues, including but not limited to sexuality, demographic politics, migrations, intellectual legacies, labor and productivity.

Interested authors should send a short pitch (max. 200 words) by December 20, 2024.
